Events in Springfield MO

Artsfest

In May, check out Artsfest, an outdoor art festival hosted by the Springfield Regional Arts Council. Featuring over 100 artists from all over the country, Artfest is an excellent event for strolling and chatting with friends. Even if you don’t want to purchase any art, you can admire the artwork, enjoy live entertainment, and eat some scrumptious food.

Taste of SoMo

In June, head to Taste of SoMo – ideally with an empty belly! At this premier culinary event, you can enjoy foods and drinks from some of the best restaurants and breweries in Southern Missouri. The servings are typically on the smaller side so that your stomach has room to sample menu items from several different booths. Plus, this event offers a great way to discover new local restaurants and support small businesses.

Ozark Empire Fair

At the end of summer (typically in late July and August), families from all over the Ozarks head to the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds for this time-honored event. The Ozark Empire Fair actually began during the early 1900s as a traveling display of local artwork and hand-crafted goods. Today, it includes livestock shows, arts and crafts, live music, a carnival midway, and more.

Springfield Cardinals Games

Did you know that Springfield is home to a minor league baseball team? During the spring and summer, head to Hammons Field to catch a Springfield Cardinals game. Not only is the experience incredibly affordable compared to a major league sport, but also you can still enjoy all the essential features of a baseball game: a hot dog, a cold beer, camaraderie with your fellow fans, and rooting for the home team.

MO Food Truck Fest

Calling all foodies! In September, we’ve got another food-based festival for you. Check out the MO Food Truck Fest at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, where a wide variety of local food trucks will set up shop for the day. Peruse the trucks to determine your menu. Your group may wish to divide and conquer to ensure that you get all the tasty treats that you’re eyeing. In addition to food and beer, there will be live music to enjoy.

Cider Days

In September, to kick off the fall season, join your fellow Springfieldians at Cider Days on Historic Walnut Street. This two-day festival is based around arts and crafts but also includes live music, performances, delicious food, and (obviously) scrumptious apple cider. This event is the perfect way to embrace that autumnal spirit, and as you stroll past the booths, you can also admire the gorgeous Victorian homes on Walnut Street. What’s not to love?
